Not every leadership strategy works equally well for everybody and in every situation. Factors like strengths and learning style along with things like race, gender, age, and cultural context matter.

In our coaching relationship, we’ll orient to your leadership from a place of deep awareness of and appreciation for who you are and the forces that have shaped you.

We’ll invite conversation about your values, identities, relationships, strengths, and experiences and what these things might mean for you as a leader.

We’ll also take time to consider the context in which you lead: Who are you surrounded by? What is the culture of your organization? How and where is power held?

Rather than adopt turnkey leadership strategies, we’ll adapt approaches and craft new ones to honor you and your context so you feel authentic and effective.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How often do we meet and for how long?

Most leaders meet with me weekly or biweekly for 60 minutes with the exception of our first coaching session which is 75-90 minutes. Coaching engagements last for a least a season (i.e. 4 months) and more commonly for 6 months to a year.

Where do we meet?

We meet via phone or Zoom. Because I’ve seen how much it enhances their presence and capacity to think creatively, I encourage (but don’t require) my leaders to sit outside or go for a walk while we chat.

How much does coaching cost?

I tailor my coaching packages to the leaders and organizations I work with. Cost depends on a variety of factors including size of the organization and length of the coaching engagement and frequency of coaching sessions. Packages tend to start around the $2995 mark for 4 months. If working together feels aligned, yet cost is a concern, please still reach out to connect. Coaching is an investment and I’m happy to engage around what it might look like to make coaching affordable and accessible to more people. I also make available several reduced rate scholarship slots each season.

What kinds of leaders do you work with?

I work with leaders from all backgrounds and sectors including government, philanthropy, education, business, technology and non-profit. Given my own background and values, I tend to attract leaders who are purpose and values driven, equity minded, care about people, feel a deep sense of responsibility and love to learn. Over 80% of my clients identify as female bodied, BIPOC and/or LGBTQI.

What training do you have? What knowledge & practices are you steeped in?

I have an undergraduate degree in history (with a focus on Hawai’ian Studies) and geology and a master’s degree in education. I did my initial coach training through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching and am a certified professional coach (CPCC) with the International Coaching Federation. Additionally, I’ve pursued a variety additional learning and certification related to adult and identify development, leadership and systems thinking and coaching. In my work, I draw on knowledge and practices from neuroscience, adaptive leadership, adult development, emergent strategy, appreciative inquiry, wayfinding, ho’oponopono, community building and various wisdom traditions, as well as my own personal experience as a human and leader.
